Helsby Half Marathon

Having battled against snow & ice all week, and going to the race with all possible combinations of long/short warm/cool tops & bottoms, it was something of a surprise to end up just racing in the normal Buckley vests & shorts !

Only a few Buckley blues were out today, I guess defeated by the early closing of entries:

First home was John Pares in 1:22:12 (finishing off a 90 mile week !)
then Paul Stinton, on his first Helsby appearance, in 1:27:17
followed by Dave B in 1:29:26
then Mark Pares, making a big improvement in his PB, in 1:40:43
and finished off by Susanne Brierley in 2:09:48
(hope I haven't missed anyone)

Happy New Hangover Hobble

Watcha, happy new year to every one.
Jeepers, thought we were doing well as Fenella and I started from the bike place Llandegla to day at noon. We swapped the lead for ages, Fen pulling away on the hills, me using weight and kinetic energy on the down bits.
Couldn't believe the depth of snow, the forest tracks were knee deep in most places, many boughs bent over the paths by the weight of the snow on their branches. Stunning vistas across the frozen lake toward Moel Fammau. We people, are so lucky running where we do.
Shame the race was cancelled, but having seen the 'going' good job it was.
See you Sunday.
Take care
Fenella and Chris
P.S. I was so close to winning !!
